Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Bill LIVE: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Uttarakhand government is all set to table the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill in the state Assembly on Tuesday (February 6). The report, aimed at establishing uniformity in civil laws, was passed by the Dhami cabinet on February 4, paving the way for the state to be the first in India to have one after Goa, where it has been operational since the time of Portuguese rule. The will legislation will be applicable to all religious communities in India on matters of marriage, inheritance, divorce, adoption, maintenance and others.

Uttarakhand government called a special four-day session of the Assembly from Monday to table the legislation, setting off intense debate across the state about the impact of the civil code.
